NASHVILLE - SEASON 5 LAUNCH
As a companion to the powerful concept spot, this spot launching season 5 (the first season on CMT) evolved almost organically from a script written by myself and Cheryl King, and footage originally meant to be used elsewhere. It was ultimately produced by 2c.TV with Marni Wagner at the production helm and their fantastic animation and effects teams. This spot won a PromaxBDA Global Excellence for Clip-Based Dramatic Program Spot in 2017.
NASCAR: THE RISE OF AMERICAN SPEED - A CMT SPECIAL EVENT
I wrote this spot along with CMT's VP of Creative, Peter Mannes. I had a special connection to NASCAR being born just outside Talladega, Alabama and within earshot of the speedway there. The three-episode special event chronicled the evolution of the sport and included interviews with many NASCAR heavyweights, footage from actual races and recreations produced by Stephen David Entertainment.
NASHVILLE - SEASON 5B LAUNCH
This may be one of my favorite spots to have produced in the NASHVILLE set. My EP Jeff Nichols, brought this song to the table by Bishop Briggs called "The Way I Do" - the lyrics were such a perfect match to the drama and trauma of the season. Once the track was cut down by Josh Keith @ Prime Recording in Nashville, it turned out to be the perfect song for the content. It's hard to get a spot through creative without VO or SOT, especially a song that comes in at :60 - but it worked beautifully.
NASHVILLE - SEASON 5 LAUNCH
I wrote and produced several sustaining launch spots with the cast of Nashville for the Season 5 launch. These were the original pieces we shot for - short, :30 monologues delivered by the actors in character. I wrote this one (w/ editing by Jeff Nichols) for Juliette, which Hayden Panettiere delivered beautifully. The spot was a mix of show clips and shoot footage (treated by 2c TV).
CMT + AVEENO/CAM
I wrote and produced this spot - a brand integration with the CMT Music Awards, Aveeno and up-and-coming country music artist Cam. I loved imagining a day in her life and especially including the line "my favorite girl" (which I also use on my dog) and making the integration feel natural.
CMT + LONGHORN STEAKHOUSE + SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK
This was a partnership with CMT's pro-social arm, CMT One Country, with Longhorn Steakhouse and focusing on volunteers at Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. I wrote, directed and produced this spot based on talking with volunteer Donna about her experiences in the food kitchen.
CASSADEE POPE: FRAME BY FRAME LAUNCH
I produced this spot for the launch of the Cassadee Pope docu-series on CMT. Before we went into edit (w/ Michiko Byers, then at Ultrabland), I did a rough cut of this spot that worked, essentially as a skeleton for the final. We had very little footage, but great graphics help from Ryan Rowland, David Bennett and the CMT internal team and made a compelling spot out of nuts.
NASHVILLE - SEASON 6 LAUNCH
Though this was my original concept, my role was technically only as producer - as it was so loaded with visual effects, CMT tasked 2c.TV with most of the production. I supervised the edits, gave creative direction at the shoot and supervised the music production. Easily a very fantastical idea that, as a team, we managed to get on the air.
FNA USA - LAUNCH
Maybe you're thinking this is a weird spot to include. It is. But, it was PromaxBDA "Hot Spot" in 2016 and showcases a little something different. I wrote and produced this spot (w/ creative direction from CMT VP of Creative Peter Mannes), a one-off of gag humor produced by Juma Entertainment. It was supposed to be fun and show off CMT's comedy slate.
